Melinda Woodhall is the author of the new Veronica Lee Thriller series, as well as the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series. In addition to writing romantic thrillers and police procedurals, Melinda also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin.

Private investigator Frankie Dawson goes home to Memphis, determined to start anew after a heartbreaking tragedy, only to find himself entangled in the investigation of a gruesome double murder with a disturbing connection to his own troubled past.
When the killings are linked to a trail of human bones discovered along the banks of the Wolf River, he begins to unravel the terrifying truth behind a series of murders that have gone undetected for over a decade.
As the investigation intensifies, Frankie realizes that his sister’s tragic death wasn’t an accident, and that the man he’s been searching for is the same sadistic predator who took her life.
“Forgetfulness does have a few perks after all.”
Frankie is going home after fifteen long years. He is dealing with a lot; his wife left him, his oldest friend is dying, and he is struggling to maintain sobriety. When bones are discovered, the last thing Frankie expected was to be pulled into a murder investigation- but now he’s the number one suspect.
I am going to love this series; I can already tell. I am excited to have a story focused solely on Frankie; he was always one of my favorite characters from Melinda’s precious books.
Seeing Frankie as an independent character was great. I love how clever he is and how much heat he puts into his job. I also love that his new partner is his rescue dog, Sherlock.
This was fast-paced and twisted, which are two things Melinda does well. I found the plot interesting, and it kept me engaged. I read this book in one sitting; it was impossible to put down.
The past comes crashing into the present, and old wounds are about to be ripped open. Frankie is about to thrown into a dangerous situation, and the truth is looking closer.
