A lifetime of secrets.
One terrifying game.
When a group of friends receives unexpected invitations to a dinner party, they see it as a chance to finally meet the bizarre and reclusive new neighbor whose home is enshrouded in layers of security.
As the drinks are poured and dinner is served, the group begins to realize things are not what they seem. What starts out as an innocent night of fun soon becomes a seemingly calculated game filled with cryptic messages and chilling revelations.
With no way out, the guests are forced to play along in hopes of escape. Friendships fray, loyalties are tested, and the secrets they’ve kept from each other are revealed one by one.
Six friends walk into the house that night.
Will six friends make it out?
“After all, no one ever expects their neighbors will try to kill them.”
Lifelong friends and neighbors, Lakynn, Bethany, Henry, Leo, and Piper, have experienced most of life’s most significant moments together. They have supported each other through the good and the bad. They have also all been keeping secrets, which are being forced into the present. And now, they may never see another day.
This gave me Would You Rather vibes in so many ways! This is a fast-paced, twisted ride from the very beginning.
The characters are your typical lifelong best friends from a small town. Growing up, going through life’s obstacles, and finding a sense of normalcy living on the same street.
When new neighbors move in, Lakynn, Bethany, and Piper cannot wait to meet them. To see how these newcomers will fit into the little cul-de-sac family they have.
This was such a twisted house of cards, but everything is connected. The relevancy in the smallest detail was bananas. The big twist was very well played and presented itself in plain sight.
Terrifyingly devious, dangerously deceitful, and downright bizarre, the plot moves along at the speed of light. So quickly that you won’t be able to put the book down, I devoured this in hours, foregoing sleep because I had to keep reading.
Each chapter intertwines you deeper into the story, and as the layers are revealed, more truth comes to light- you start to realize that maybe you don’t know your best friends and partners as well as you think.
I loved the timeline and how the story was told. The characters were all so deeply defined, and each had such bold characteristics that brought them to life.
Everything was so unexpected, and I read this book so quickly that I didn’t even have time to try and guess what would happen. This was a rollercoaster with a deadly free-fall that left me stunned.
This is definitely the year of KMod, and she is. It holding back. The characters were bold, the twists were insane, and the beautiful way this story was told and came together is brilliant.
This would be an excellent movie.
