I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

Lola West is the queen of sweet, intelligent, silly, sexy romance! She has a Ph.D. in woman’s studies and a flair for the dramatic. She likes cotton candy, astronomy, kitten heels and small town hunks. Lola is a pen name. The mind behind Lola is just like you – an everyday person living a regular life, happy to daydream about sexy men and the sassy women they love.

“Honestly, what else was I gonna do?”

Ryan is spending his summer on Martha’s Vineyard, working at the Country Club and getting drunk. That is how he is working through his trauma. Until he notices his neighbor. There is just something about her that captivates him. It makes him feel something other than despair. So when she ends up in his bedroom one night, he realizes he doesn’t ever want her to leave.

Oh, my HEART. I love Leah so much. She is such a charming character, and she compliments Ryan so well.

I love that Lola writes such imperfect characters who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable or emotionally raw. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and watching their journey unfold.

Ryan is in a dark place, lost and alone, and he doesn’t realize what he is missing until he meets Leah. And then his world flips upside down, again. I love that their first impressions of each other were so wrong and that their connection was so genuine.

The anticipation and build-up between Ryan and Leah was extremely hot and only got hotter. I found myself smiling like an idiot as their relationship blossomed.

Lola creates such dynamic characters, and their journey becomes your journey. You get so invested in these people- their struggle is your struggle. You hurt because they hurt. It’s a beautiful ability.

I hated finishing this book because I could have read about Ryan and Leah for the rest of their lives. Lola knows how to create a world that is so beautifully twisted, and you can’t help but fall a little in love.
