I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Melinda Woodhall is the author of the new Veronica Lee Thriller series, as well as the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series. In addition to writing romantic thrillers and police procedurals, Melinda also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin.

“The world had been a different place. Now it was dark and uncertain.”

Veronica is still reeling from finding out her father was alive and dangerous. And she is also trying to process that she has a half-sister. Together, they are trying to piece together Skylar’s history. As they dig further into the past, dark secrets and deadly people come slithering into the present. This could end any chance of a future.

I liked this book. The storyline picked up where the previous book ended, and we were reunited with all the characters we have come to know and love. We are also introduced to a few new faces, as well.

We get a lot of time with Nessa in this book and focus pretty heavily on Skylar and Frankie. The more I learn about Frankie’s past, the more my heart aches for everything he has lost.

The plot thickens in this book as we dive deeper into the syndicate and find out more about who is involved with the trafficking. The plot is fast-paced and holds your attention. There were so many twists and turns, and I’m still slightly reeling.

When we think Willow Bay is safe, something else pops up, and our cast of characters has to scramble to figure out how to save the day.

Dramatic and well written, this series is only heating up!
