Miranda Woodhall is the author of the new Veronica Lee Thriller series, as well as the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series. In addition to writing romantic thrillers and police procedurals, Melinda also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin.

This novel picks up where the first book left off. We are joined by all the original characters and are introduced to a handful of new ones. Veronica is still trying to recover from the trauma of almost being killed by Xavier Grayson. As she continues to move forward day by day, her safety net gets rattled when a video is delivered to her home of a woman being murdered.

We spend a lot of time with Riley in this book, which I enjoyed. Riley is such a great character, and she is a total badass in this book. Her strength is tested in heartbreaking ways, and when you think this woman has nothing left, she proves you wrong.

We also get to know more about Frankie in this book, which I enjoyed. His character is so well written, and he is just likable. We learn a bit more about his past and get glimpses into the complexities that make up his personality.

This book was fast-paced, and the build-up was intense. There were so many twists and turns, and the big reveal was utterly unexpected. I am ready to read book three in this series!
