Kiersten Modglin is a suspense author who enjoys dabbling in all the sub-genres. A Netflix addict, Shonda Rhimes super-fan, psychology fanatic, and indoor enthusiast, Kiersten enjoys rainy days spent with her nose in a book. More than anything, she loves reading & creating life-changing stories.

“I’m sorry I took so long.”

Lydia has grown up always feeling like she is a burden, an excess that maybe her family doesn’t want or need. She’s allowed those thoughts to ferment in her mind, despite her foster family showing her nothing but absolute love. Adam is a classic cowboy. His family own a big farm, and he is popular and attractive. Adam didn’t realize that the day he hired Lydia to work the farm with him, that he would be changing both of their lives, possibly forever.

This was such a sweet story. It amazes me every single time that, regardless of length, Kiersten can create a complete story- twists, turns, and derailments. Sometimes I get so blown away by how gifted Kiersten is with words. She can tell a complete story without rambling incessantly. Her words have power, and she always hits her mark.

The characters in this novella were, for the most part, absolutely charming. And Kiersten’s take on the “classic” high school sweethearts was beyond precious. Adam and Lydia shared quite the journey together. And while their road got bumpy, they managed to figure it out, despite some significant miscommunication and secrets.

What started as a simple work assignment morphed into so much more. And everything about the story is worthy of making you swoon—a short but oh-so-sweet novella about a small-town couple growing up together. Definitely a story to tell the grandkids.

Very well done!
