Whew. I spent hours reading this book cursing Tara Sivec for writing a story that destroyed me. Tara Sivec us know for her steamy romcoms. Her bold, charismatic, memorable characters. Her sass and her wit. But my god- the woman is a damn gifted writer. This is not a romcom. There is no witty banter that ends in a steamy roll in the hay. Prepare to have your heart ripped out of your chest.

This was an emotional rollercoaster. From the very start, I knew this book would shatter me. And yet, I read on. As I got deeper into the plot and felt more connected to the characters, my heart continued to ravage with every page.

Eli’s story is heartbreaking from the very start. It is a miracle that he turned out as charming and loving as he did. Shelby’s story broke my heart differently. Her journey is devastating in so many ways. Together, these two broke pieces try to come and find some peace. Except the past doesn’t stay in the past.

I love Tara Sivec. The way she brings a story to life is just magical. I know her as the sassy rom-com writer who can write one hell of a steamy scene. But she can also write such a beautifully devastating story that will break your heart. This book is, so I like anything I have read from Tara. But this is an absolute must-read. Grab a tissue, get comfy, and prepare to have your life ruined.

Tara, you continue to slap me in the face with the incredible score of your talent. The dynamic range you possess is bananas. This story is beautiful; it is sad, emotional, and has such raw vulnerability. Get ready to have your heart ripped out and danced upon.
